Thursday Prayer

A strong box may be used as a focal point for worship

Listening to all that remains unspoken, I come to you O God

God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though the waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
Psalm 46:1-3

Voice 1 : A bruised reed he will not break,
and a dimly burning wick he will not quench.
All :        You, O God will faithfully bring forth justice,
those who rest in you will renew their strength.

The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Psalm 46:7

Read Isaiah 14:1-8; Reflect on God’s protection; Pray for vulnerable people; Pray for Shechem community

Lord, give us the eyes of Jesus
to see our neighbours and the strangers we meet.
Teach us what it means to love the stranger
as we love ourselves.
Forgive us for our selfishness, for our silence,
for not caring enough for the strangers
who come to our communities.
Teach us to love and care for the stranger the way you do.

Voice 1 : A bruised reed he will not break,
and a dimly burning wick he will not quench.
All :         You, O God will faithfully bring forth justice,
those who rest in you will renew their strength.

The Lord Almighty is with us, the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Psalm 46:11
